Medway River Fire Departments Recruiting PictureThis site is a compendium of information about anything to do with fire, the causes of fire and about fire safety.  It is written by volunteer members of a small, rural community in Nova Scotia who see the internet as one means to share their knowledge in a way that will hopefully minimize risks posed by fire to persons and real property.  Within our pages you will find a good deal of general information which is applicable to everyone no matter where they are.  You will also find sections that relate more specifically to the small number of volunteer fire departments along the Medway River that it serves.  As a work in progress some fire department sections contain more information than do others; over time the information contained in each section should grow both as an archive and as a source of more current information. Situated where we are in Nova Scotia,  much of the information might be somewhat Nova Scotia focussed and, to a lesser extent, Canada focussed.  However you will also find much material sourced from the United States of America, Britain and beyond. The threat of fire involves homes, businesses, workplace safety, health and well being, motor vehicles, collisions, traffic and traffic direction, emergency response by multiple agencies.  It involves the use of specially equipped fire vehicles carrying huge amounts of equipment, some mundane, some very advanced and expensive.  Fighting fire, particularly in rural communities, involves leadership, training, volunteering, fund raising.  Above all it involves community.  You should find all of this and more within our pages.  If you looked for information about fire safety that you were unable to find here, please let us know.  We would dearly love to fill the void.
